Frequently Asked Questions

How do I run an APL simulation online?

Use our free simulator: enter your monthly rent, your APL zone (1, 2 or 3), your income and your household composition. The result is displayed in 2 minutes. No registration required. The simulation is based on official CAF 2026 rates.

Is the APL simulation reliable?

Our simulator uses the official rates published by decree of 30 December 2025. The estimate is indicative and may vary by a few euros compared to the actual amount paid by CAF, as certain fine parameters (assets over 30,000 EUR, exceptional income) are not always included in a quick simulation.

What is the difference between APL, ALS and ALF?

APL (Aide Personnalisee au Logement) applies to subsidized housing. ALS (Allocation de Logement Sociale) covers non-subsidized housing. ALF (Allocation de Logement Familiale) is reserved for families with children or dependents. You can only receive one of these three aids — CAF automatically assigns the most advantageous one.

When should I run an APL simulation?

Ideally before signing your lease, to know your actual remaining costs. Run a new simulation when your situation changes: moving, income change, birth, separation, retirement. CAF automatically recalculates your entitlements every 3 months.

Do I need to create an account to simulate APL?

No. Our simulator is 100% free and anonymous. You don't need any account or personal data. Only rent, zone, income and household composition are needed. For the official application, however, you will need to create an account on caf.fr.
